About Shri Kashi Vishwanath

The Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and is believed to be the site where Lord Shiva manifested himself. The temple has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times throughout history, including by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The current structure was constructed in 1780 by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar with support from Maharaja Chet Singh. The temple holds immense religious significance, and worship here is believed to absolve sins and grant spiritual fulfilment. It is also associated with the Narayan Dynasty, which has ruled Varanasi since the 18th century. The temple is a central symbol of Sanatan culture and Hindu traditions.

हिंदू धर्म के अनुसार, भगवान शिव के 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों में काशी विश्वनाथ भी शामिल है, जो वाराणसी में स्थित है। यह मंदिर भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती से जुड़ा हुआ है। मंदिर का जीर्णोद्धार कई बार हुआ, और वर्तमान संरचना 1780 में महारानी अहिल्या बाई होल्कर द्वारा बनवायी गई। इतिहास में इसे कई बार तोड़ा गया, सबसे आखिरी बार मुग़ल शासक औरंगज़ेब ने तोड़ा था। काशी नरेश महाराजा बलवंत सिंह ने 1740 में इसे मुगलों के नियंत्रण से मुक्त करवा कर सनातन संस्कृति को पुनर्स्थापित किया। यह मंदिर प्रलय के दौरान भी अस्तित्व में रहता है और यहां ब्रह्मा की उत्पत्ति भी मानी जाती है।
